I'm getting overheating issues on my graphics card when I play stalker. I get a lot of artifacts on the screen(ironic when it's a game about finding artifacts).
The artifacts disappear when I use ntune to increase the fan speed to max, which leads me to believe this is an overheating issue.
The card isn't overclocked, and what gets to me is that it only seems to happen with this game.
Maybe the game isn't making the drivers turn the fan speed up?

case temps too hot = video card getting to hot when gaming?

if you have a 8800, they do tend to run hot unless you have good ventilation.

The card and its drivers should manage its temperatures all by itself. It obviously could, since it doesn't overheat when you set the fan speed to max manually, but doesn't. That would be a poor choice of fan/temperature curve in the thermal management software of the card then.

Ask its makers.
