Stalker: Call of Pripyat, unable to turn in Artifact quests

Playing Stalker: CoP, seems the best of the series so far (even if my trusty Chaser 13 does far less damage than the previous games).

The bugs seem minimal compared to the previous games, but I have received a quest from Beard to return a Flame artifact. I have one in my inv. right now, but am unable to turn it in to him. Does he really only accept artifacts found AFTER receiving the quest?

I have tried walking outside and dropping the flame, then picking it back up to 'find' it, but that did not work.

Anyone know a solution?

You do not have to get his request first. I obtained the artifact (one from ship, right?) and he accepted it. talk to hime and there should be an option in your question list, go through all of them.

if not, it must be a bug.....after you got the object, did it trigger an event when you walk outside, a bandit offers to buy it, if you refuse he and his squad attacks?...if not, something screwed up
otherwise, i dunno, may have to use previous save

A lot of Beard's quests, especially the Artifact quests, are time sensitive. After a certain amount of time, the quest is canceled.
