stable/sound?

I'm going to be ordering parts for a new computer soon but I have a question about a good hsf for an AMD 1.2ghz. At the moment I have a P3 which I run for long periods of time(days) without turning it off which it does fine with. This will be my first AMD and I'm leaning towards getting a Thermaltake Dragon Orb 3 for my hsf. What I need to know is with this hsf and my cpu will I be able to continue running my computer for long periods of time without a problem or will I have to turn it off more frequently to let it cool off?

Also I've seen some good reviews on the Dragon Orb 3 but does it produce a lot of sound? And is it fairly easy to install on the socket AMDs? I'm trying not to break my first AMD out of the box 🙂

Thanks,

I don't have one myself, but from what i've read, it suppose to be a pretty quiet fan and still produce pretty good results. I've also read that its pretty easy to install, installing the HSF for a socket Athlon is the same as a socket PIII, well from my experience

The Dragon Orb will be loud and as TT always exagerates the specs so the fan it is probably around at least 40Db loud and most likely not the 37Db it claims to be which is still very audible, and it's not exactly the best cooler for the money, but I will say that it's clip is simple to use and has 3 lug support but then again it's no different than the Taisol clip pretty much..
You want my advice I'd suggest you go with a Taisol CGK760 with a copper base that comes with a quiet enough fan and you should have a very quiet 1.4 Ghz certified heatsink that could be upgraded with a better fan should you feel the need to overclock.. You can get it here for around $29 shipped..
There are several other options as well and you should do some more research before you settle on the Dragon Orb.. I've read some very shady reviews in which I'm sure the reviewers were being paid to say good things about it, a few that said it was fairly competitive, and some others that said it's performance was average and recommended other coolers so just look into it closely and I'm sure you'll see the confusing mixed reviews it's gotten..
