I had been running my tbird 700 at 800 for about a week (no games or benching), with seti, folding@home, icq, other cpu testers without issue. Yesterday, I tried to get a 3dmark2k score but it would freeze (requiring reset button). It froze at 787, and worked at 750 (only 1 run, didn't have time for more). Does that mean it isn't really stable at 800 or might the problem be elsewhere?

Yea, thats means something isnt stable. Try upping the voltage a bit, and see if that helps. It could be anything though. Post your system spec's maybe we can find the problem.

I don't really want to take the voltage higher (I think it happened at 1.9 too) b/c I just have the heatsink it came with (2-6k rpm fans, fins).

tbird 700
Asus K7V (beta bios 1008-d)

intel anypoint 10mbps hpna card
30 gig quantum fireball
a cdrom drive
sony burner 8/4/32

If you are upping it by use of FSB that can cause instability also. By using the multiplyer you can get much higher and more stable.

Uh, you might try getting better cooling. The standard heatsinks arnt really that good.
