Well I'm a first time builder and I chose KM133 (Same as KT133 except has ProSavage video), and I have had no stability problems at all. I keep on installing the latest 4-in-1's and no new problems have come up.

I think the vast majority of problems people experience with Via chipsets comes from not setting them up correctly. I have built bunches of Via based setups with relatively few problems. I still have yet to run into the SoundBlaster/Via Southbridge problem although I have had some problems with win2000 setups in the past.
Yet, as easy as I have had it with Via based setups, I have many friends who have had problem after problem with their setups. Usually, these problems are easily traced to some people?s lack of desire/willingness to learn the correct install procedures before trying to build or format their systems.

IMO, if you know the correct install procedure, and are willing to get the latest drivers for the devices you are going to use with your setup, a Via chipset user is no more likely to have problems than with any other relativaly new (non BX) chipset on the market.

<< The vast majority of stability problems are the result of one of these steps being skipped by an overeager or negligent builder. Following this procedure will fix any problem on any PC. A computer is only the sum of its parts, nothing more. There is no such thing as a lemon.
And since I follow these steps religiously for every system build, any subsequent problems are always the end user's fault. A clean OS install always purges whatever junk is causing it.

My MSI K7T Turbo-R has been a champ for me. Had a little burner problem but a bios update and new 4in1's cured it. Never experienced any usb problems at all although my Gigabyte Ga-7IX had all kinds of trouble with usb. Only thing that fixed it was upgrading to winMe what does that tell ya? Tells me problem was in software not hardware. Been running 2000 on the turbo board and i have to say i have never had a more stable system. No random locks or crashes it seems to get along with my sb live just fine.

Had an A7VKT133 board that was a great board once you learnt all of its little tricks. Very stable, great overclocker.

Currently have an MSi K7T Turbo-R. Great board, very stable.. not a good overclocker for 200fsb chips.

Ever since I got the RAID drivers installed in Win2k properly, I haven't had a single problem with my MSI K7T Turbo-R. It's never crashed once in the three months I've had it, and I leave it on 24/7.

Well, I inherited my Abit KT7A-RAID because the person that had it had nothing but trouble with it (this person was using win98 and a cheesy 8x Philips burner), but when I popped it in my system and clean installed win2k it's been smooth as silk. No trouble or issues at all.

I can burn CD's all day long with my Plextor and have no data corruption issues with large files. I have dont have a soundblaster live card, but I do have the original soundblaster PCI card installed.

I like the board and will probably keep it around for a awhile since I can keep upgrading processor for a while. my duron 800@1ghz is plenty for me right now, but I'll probably throw a T-Bird an there eventually.
