Core 1 fails Prime within 5 seconds. All other cores seem normal. Load temps (RealTemp) 59-61C. I'm at a loss - or blind....

System:

Rampage Formula
Q9450 @ 450FSB
OCZ (2x2GB) PC2-8500
Zalman 9700
750w PSU

Settings:

CPU Ratio Setting: AUTO
FSB Strap to NB: 333
FSB Freq: 450
PCIE Freq: 100
DRAM Freq: AUTO (CPUz detects 540.1, 5:6, 2T)
DRAM Command Rate: AUTO
DRAM Timing: Manual (5-5-5-18)

All other RAM Functions: AUTO

DRAM Static Read Control: Disabled

CPU Voltage: 1.350 (1.336 CPUz)
CPU PLL Voltage: 1.50
NB Voltage: 1.65
DRAM Voltage: 2.16
FSB Termination Voltage: 1.50
SB Voltage: 1.050
SB 1.5 Voltage: 1.5
Loadline Calibration: Enabled
CPU GTL Voltage Reference: AUTO
NB GTL Voltage Reference: AUTO
DRAM Controller Voltage Reference: AUTO
DRAM Channels A&B Voltage Reference: AUTO

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thats a voltage issue most likely.. I would suggest raising it a tad more along with your CPU PLL Voltage. Also Try your mem @1:1 till you get your desired clock stable.

You may want to visit the extreme forums..

Hmm... I'd suggest you set Loadline Calibration to disabled. It's been recommended everywhere to have this disabled. And according to my experience, if I set FSB Strap to NB to 333, I get BSODs. If I leave it on Auto, it's fine, weird. CPU Voltage may be a bit too high for 45nm CPUs too.

FSB Termination Voltage (VTT).... according to Anandtech, 45nm CPUs are very prone to high VTT. Someone killed their QX9650 by setting VTT to 1.5V for a 24hr test. Here's the scoop.

You should research all these stuff first before toasting your CPU really...

I've researched extensively...on several forums. There just aren't many Rampage/Q9450 combos out there. These settings have been tweaked numerous times...

I have just purchases Q9450 with a Asus Maximus (Rampage) X38 ed

I have got mine stable at 3.4ghz, I had it running @ 3.6ghz for a day, but had a few BSOD so dropped down.

Suggestion

DRAM Command Rate: select the lowest value to start with within the dropdown list to get machine stable, increase later :)

CPU Voltage 1.27v
NB Voltage 1.47v (1.65v is high)

Let me know how you get on. I would like to go back to 3.6Ghz stable.

I read on a review somewhere that for 65nm CPUs, set GTL on 0.67x while on 45nm set it on 0.65x for more stability on higher FSB.

What's the spec voltage and timings of your RAM? You should definitely set your RAM:CPU to 1:1.

Also have another config at 3.8 stable, but since vcore >1.4 and fsbt is 1.44 I do not run it for daily use.
