Stability problem w/Abit KT7-RAID & ATI AIW RADEON & Win2000

New system is working well except for random occasional lock-ups in Win2000. Usually the screen goes black (monitor LED turns from green to yellow indicating either no signal, or sleep mode). So I'm suspecting the ATI AIW Radeon (drivers or board itself).

I've read all the FAQ's, loaded all the latest non-beta drivers for VIA & ATI AIW RADEON. System is running at 33 degrees celsius, and is NOT overclocked.

The only think that seems to improve the stability is to disable the VIA IDE controller (hard drives are in RAID 0 on the built-in RAID controller). The only thing I have on the disabled IDE controller is a Ricoh DVD/CD-RW combo drive which works fine when the IDE controller is enabled. Even with the IDE controller disabled, the system still locks up but just less frequently then with the IDE controller enabled.

I'm going to try the beta AIW drivers, and then switch video cards if that doesn't work. Any other suggestions? Should I bother calling ATI?

thanks, click on "my baby" below for system configuration.

Try to uninstall the VIA ide deiver, this will decrease performance for the IDE ( still fine for a cd) and help.
At least worked for me.
Other thing is disinstall all the via drivers and reinstall the 2.1 version ( I think that was it, the one in the SBIT cd.)

To my knowledge, there are no VIA IDE drivers for the KT133 chipset for Win2000 except for the ones built into win2000. I actually tried installing the VIA IDE drivers once, but it said they were NOT for win2000. I can try installing older VIA 4in1 drivers (not IDE obviously) if you think that's worth a try.
