STABILITY: mushkin Basic DDR vs. Micron DDR

which is best for stability?
mushkin Basic
or Micron

are there any other low-cost brands that have very good stability?

never had any issue with Crucial chips myself, but then again, never had any issues with Mushkin RAM either...

yeah, I've been pondering these same questions. I mean, crucial RAM is pretty much all the same I think. Their PC2100 (what I'm interested in) is all cas 2.5..... then we get Mushkin, who speed sorts every memory chip. So Mushkin Basic is definitely below the standards of their better chips.

This would lead me to believe that with Crucial, you might be getting better quality, while with Mushkin Basic you're definitely only getting chips rated at the lowest quality they consider acceptable. Any other feelings on this matter?

Muskin Basic is trash. It the exact same stuff as the cheapest generic RAM on pricewatch. Mushkin doesn't even make the PCB. The high quality Mushkin stuff on the other hand is great.

Go with the Crucial. It's on par with the highend mushkin chips

Nope..that's micron chips on generic PCB. Your best bet is buy directly from crucial.com

true, crucial.com has free 2nd day fedex, and their web prices aren't bad. Plus, their customer service is pretty good and hassle free in my experience. They'll even cross ship any bad memory you get (happened to me once) as long as you have a credit card. You definitely can't say the same for many of the pricewatch e-tailers.

I really wish I'd been home on Sunday. Mushkin had its cas2-3-3 PC2100 w/ heat spreader for $129 + free shipping. Thats what I really wanted to get. But now its $150 with ground shipping. Thats enough of a price difference to make me buy Crucial instead.
