Stability First, 3D Second

Okay, I'm not a newbie, but I've had dismal luck in building my own systems in the past. What I'm looking for is a decent system for Flash Dev, 3D rendering, & realtime OpenGL projects, HTPC, & of course a few cool games.

I won't be going above 1024x768 but NEED component out (DLP projector)
& I want something reasonably fast, but not necesarily cutting edge
I like the idea of 64bit & dual-core, but am not set on it.
I'd like to spend between $500-1000 (a bit more, *shrug*)

Like I said, I need something stable most of all. I also want to be able to create & run some fairly intensive realtime 3D projects of my own, so a phat GPU is definitely in order. Again, this needn't be the latest greatest, just so long as it's no slouch.

I'll probably be getting a high-end system sometime next year, so this one should really just tide me over until then.

I would prefer an excellent pre-built system, as bulletproof as possible. I might be willing to try building my own again.... hmm...

So, anybody have dynamite advice for me? Thanks very much.
