Maybe if the people would actually obey the existing laws; the cops would not be harassing people over weed.

Just like blacks should have just sat at the back of the bus and been quiet?

they are bad, unjust, costly, and archaic laws and most of society believe they shoudl be changed.

Then change them - but do not complain when the existing laws are being enforced

well, i see your point. I would say it's not so much that cops are harassing people over weed, it's that they "have to" in order to enforce the law. Most cops think it is a waste of time too.

Yup, that explanation will go over very well with the relatives of someone who was murdered while the police were busting people for smoking pot.

I would expect that the police do not go looking for potheads. They find them in the course of other crimes/incidents that the potheads are related to.

That's a nice expectation, but I suspect it doesn't mirror reality as much as it should.

I'm technically only here in St. Louis for a project and am not a resident of MO, but I voted yes. The more fly-over-states that address this issue, the better.

I am for completely decrriminalization of POT. This is just the Govt trying to control people and scare them. It will actually free up space in our jails. I think we should just let people grow their own or let farmers grow it. POT is about the same as smoking a cigarette; it may even be less harmful.

One thing you need to be aware of is that some employers may still refuse to hire you if you fail a drug test. POT takes a long time to dissipate from the body and prolonged use has an accumulative effect that can be detected even if you have not smoked it for days.

I dont smoke POT. However, I have seen lots of people kicked out of military for a little drug use due to Mandatory Urinalisys drug testing. I still feel this is a waste of time to worry about a little pot when any fool can drink themselves silly every day till their liver shrivels up and hardens like a rock. It is hypocritical.

Preach on brother, it's almost as silly as kicking people out of the military for being gay. Crazy!

I know right!

yep so true... there was a guy from the Heritage Foundation debating legalization with a guy from NORML on abc, and the HF guy admitted to drinking often and chewing tobacco.. often at the same time, and then goes to say how bad POT is and that it should be illegal because it's harmful.. the norml guy was basically like "OMFG your face is going to fall off you stupid hypocrite if you think like that stay away from my children"

WTF is this statement? Without complaint there would be no changes. Complaints are made because something is wrong and needs to be fixed. Be it this law or anything else for that matter. Do you think slaves should have never complained when it was the law to own slaves? Common Courtesy, this statement is as stupid as stupid gets.

People should NOT be able to pick and choose which laws they want to obey.
We are built around a nation of laws.
Change the law as needed if it is felt to be wrong.

The law states that one should not speed in a school zone. Do not like it - then change it. But do not speed through a school zone; get caught and complain that you have every right to speed.

I can understand this.

If everybody picked what laws they wanted to obey because it was up to them what was right and wrong, we would have chaos. There are methods/channels to argue/debate/change laws, and most often than not, civil disobedience for selfish reasons is not the way to go.

Ah, but that is not what you posted. Also, much legislation has been changed though because enough people did not obey the law to force the change. Rosa Parks ring any bells? Here is the thing, unjust laws should not be followed, regardless. I am not stating that this is the case here, but pointing out your entirely stupid blank statement. There are such things as unjust, immoral, and bad laws. Following them because they are the law when you know better makes you immoral as well.

But thanks for your horrendously bad anecdote in regards to speeding laws. Just have to love strawman arguments for making it look like your blanket statement is correct in all situations when it is not.
