St. John island

Good, bad, so-so?

The wife and I are looking for a vacation spot this year and I have always wanted to visit the US Virgin Islands.

We are more of the laid back relaxing, hiking, snokeling type vs. the party animal type.

Any other vacation spot suggestions are welcome...

My wife and I went to St. Thomas for our honeymoon and spent a day on St. Johns.

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful.

My suggestion though is that you stay on St. Thomas and visit St. Johns. It is only a short ferry ride away and much of St. Johns is a wildlife refuge so it is more expensive.

I agree with Queasy. We stayed in St. Thomas and visited St. John. No regrets.

GORGEOUS places, both of them.

Short? Took me an hour to get to St John's via ferry.

It is a very nice area, OP.

With the hotel prices and food prices being so much more expensive on St. Johns than St. Thomas....that's a short ferry ride. 😉

There's a link in my sig to a webcam that's in Tortola, BVI which is about 70nm from St. John. Very pretty place. 🙂

I was about to make the same post myself, except I went with a college buddy.

St. Thomas and the ferry to St John's will be the better deal by a long shot.

If I had it to do all over again though, I'd have gone right for the Cozumel all inclusive. I have since been there and it was far better value for the money.

Cozumel is pretty devastated since the hurricanes. I can HIGHLY recommend Barcelo Maya Tropical in Playa Del Carmen. It was amazing.

Thanks for all of the replies.

acemcmac: so assuming money wasn't a factor would you still pick Cozumel over the UVI?
