St. Croix US Virgin Islands.

Anyone been there? What is there to do?

I am thinking of taking a short course (7 day) at UVI and I was wondering what there is to do on the island.

I'm kind of on the fence since most flights from Vancouver or Seattle are 2-3 stops with multi hour layovers.

Cheers,
Aquaman

Never to St. Croix, but I have been to St. John and St. Thomas. Beautiful places.

St. Croix is the land of cheap gas and cheap rum.

yea lucky, atleast for a bit. But i can see myself getting bored very quickly living in a tiny island. Vacationing there for a week or two or even a month is fabulous, but I dont think I could live there on a permanent basis

He was my roommate freshman year of college...he's the type that's definitely a cool, socialable guy....would still rather stay in and study on a friday night out of principle. I think he'll do better in that situation than most.

Yep. Stay on St. Thomas and take the ferry to St. John...much cheaper that way. St John is mostly covered in national parks. This drives up the price of hotels and food. Fantastic snorkeling and beaches though.

St. Croix is supposed to be fantastic too. I think it has more than St. Thomas and St. Johns in terms of stuff to go see (architecture, plantations, rum distilleries). I went to St. Thomas and St. John for my honeymoon though as I was more concerned about beaches and relaxation than tourist sights.

My friend who lived in the USVI for years told me that St. Croix is the ghetto island. :p
Personally I didn't have time to make it there...

If it's anything like St Thomas though, I'd still rather go to St John.

I've been to St. Croix before. It's a very nice island, albeit poor and IMO a little too touristy. A lot of cheap rum and gas is there too if you're into that sort of thing.

I'd prefer to go to St. John too but it is just to f'n expensive. We stayed at the Wyndham Resort that looks across the water at St. Johns and took the ferry over to spend the day on St. Johns. :) I saved a couple of thousand dollars doing that.

Ya, I was on my honeymoon, so we got a little spendy. The ferries between St Thoamas and St John are awesome, and pretty fast.

St Croix is like 30 miles away, though. Not sure how long the ride will be.

We rented a condo on St. John's, and its price wasn't bad at all. It was really nice and right in the center of town too. I think my wife found it at http://www.brbo.com/

Just as a sidenote, the deciding factor in me choosing the USVI for my honeymoon was no need to worry about exchanging currency and passports. That was a hassle I enjoyed avoiding.

St. John.

Cannot wait to go back in a few weeks.

Nice pic of Trunk bay. I have a similar one (albeit with a much crappier camera :p).

My wife and I got married around the bend on Hawksnest Bay.

Here is another of St John looking sown the foot trail towards Reef Bay.

Hmm... no, I don't have that. Is that Annaberg or the ruins on Caneel Bay Resort property?

It's at the Annaberg Plantation. It was pretty neat.

Also, we saw a few mongooses there.
