Pros: Accommodates six HDDs (if you have supernatural powers)! Great fan capacity. Good looks. I was able to fit a 92mm fan in the side opening (listed only for 80mm), just had to file it down a couple mm's. I also cut a 120mm hole in the top directly above my Big Typhoon, and ducted 1/2" down to the top of the fan. Full load temps on my Opteron 165@2.4GHz/1.2V only 38C, idling at 31C.
Cons: VERY tight squeeze!!! I don't recommend trying to use a large HSF, I am using a Thermaltake Big Typhoon (barely), and it makes constant contact with the IDE cables connected to my optical drives. With fans installed in the HHD cages, the HDDs hang over and cover at least 3cm of the motherboard, making it difficult to install everything. (I only installed two so far, but I plan on adding more later (yeah right!). In order to change my RAM, I'll have to remove my HSF & optical drive as it is directly beneath them. Nothing has thumb screws. The power supply is a long way from my ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 motherboard?s power connection, I had to run them up over my AGP graphics card.
Other Thoughts: Pleased with the outcome, but this build took me longer than any other I've ever done (probably 5+ hours), and I'm dreading having to go back in there later. Got this baby for under a hundred bucks in a retail store in Japan.
Just thought anyone looking for a decent/cheap HTPC case and considering this one, might like some info on it.
Case mod, 120mm hole with HFS duct.
Interior layout.
Tight squeeze.
Opteron 165 @ 2.4GHz w/ only 1.2V - 26hrs dual sp2004 stable.
