It's a website that pays your to blog on your own blog by doing short 'offers' from advertisers. They require a SSN in order to file tax stuff. I'm sure the site is safe/secure (it's used by so many people and seems OK, ranked 1,000 something in Alexa).

So it's OK do give them your SSN or not? Read about it on that page I linked you to, Ctrl-F "tax"

by doing short "offers" for advertisers? you mean they pay you do say positive things about products in your blogs whether you believe it or not? i think the credibility of such a blogger just took a nosedive. it's like... what do they call it... a payoff?

here are two copycat sites. maybe they won't ask for a SSN.

No, you don't have to be positive. Some are positive, some netural, and even the majority of them let you put "Advertisement" In the title, which is good.
And for those copycats, I believe all want the SSN for tax reasons. I read if you get paid more than a certain amount ($600?) you have to by law report it.

Hmmm, I found no mention at all on the reviewme site about SSN or taxes; Mosh linked to it above. I went through the faq, privacy, etc. No mention of it. I started the sign-up process, again, it looks like I'd complete the sign-up without needing to enter my SSN.

If you're creating a blog that reviews for other people, I don't know why you wouldn't be considered an independent contractor and responsible for your own taxes...
I'm debating whether the SSN thing adds a layer of legitimacy or a layer of risk... Somehow, I'm perceiving it to be a better place than reviewme. I really have no interest in those sites though, so I'm not going to dig deeper.
