SSDs, looking to learn more about them!

I am looking into adding an SSD to my PC but have a few questions from those who have been using them for a while.

Should I even bother using an SSD with Windows XP since this OS doesn't support TRIM? I have read that with the OCZ drives one can use PerfectDisc10 and manage and improve the speed/performance of the drive outside of Windows 7 TRIM feature. So this might be a work around for Windows XP.

If the SSD slows over time, can doing a clean format and re-install of your OS/programs resolve this slow down?

Thanks!

OCZ/Indilinx drives such as the Agility and Vertex have garbage collection firmware which helps prevent degredation if you cannot use TRIM and want something to take care of the degredation issue without manual intervention (aside from the initial firmware flash). Samsung's newer controller/firmware does the same. Garbage collection is what you want if you are plannign to use XP. That being said... Windows 7 is really good.

Even Intel allows you to do manual Trim. They just need to release the damn FW with an updater that works.

End of November is just crap. It will have been a month since they knew of the issue.
