from the OCZ site in regards to new firmware:

What happens is win7 sends a TRIM command down to the drive, this triggers GC which does a full sweep and clean on the drive.
This is adding some write latency...hence you may see a stutter. GC will keep the drive fast, you can always turn TRIM on and off...so when gaming TRIM off, rest of the time TRIM on. To turn TRIM on type fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 0

WTH? I dont understand. I dont know a lot about TRIM and GC, but i thought its supposed to make the SSDs faster? "While gaming turn Trim off" sounds awful to me....as well as "latency" and stutters.

Does this need to always ON (therefore introducing stutters and latency in normal work with W7???)

Furthermore...i have general questions in setting up new gen SSDs with Windows 7 (respective setting up W7 for the SSDs)...etc..etc.. does W7 do all this automatically or do i have to deactivate certain things myself....eg. does superfetch/pagefile need to be disabled?

Is there a W7/SSD FAQ somewhere?

Seconded.

In a few months I plan to rebuild my main rig from the ground up using i5, G2 and Win7. A guide to anything that needs to be done during setup/installation and thereafter to optimize performance of Win7 on SSD would be highly appreciated.

wooo...i am looking around right now, especially in regards to cloning an existing W7 install to a new SSD. It might not be that easy, but i found quite a lot of information on the OCZ support forum. There also some FAQs eg. in regards to GC and Trim. As i understand:

1) Only the OCZ firmware has the built-in "background garbage collection" which (in a sense) makes the TRIM actually not needed anymore.
2) OCZ firmware cannot be flashed onto other drives....but...well there might be ways.... :)

Right now i am reading up on whether its possible to easily clone a W7 disk using Acronis TI Home...it seems to be possible tho.

Still reading up on all this...
