SSD with motherboard problem

Hello, I got a new SSD to install windows on it. So After install windows (7) gets stuck on "starting windows" and the animation does not load.

Hardware:
Mobo: Asrock G41C-GS
SSD: Corsair Force 120GB

- I have installed Win7 at least 10 times, from USB and from DVD.
- I have tried the SSD on another, newer PC and it installed no problem.
- I have upgraded MOBO's Firmware to latest 1.40

Check and report any bios SATA settings related to "AHCI" or "IDE" or "native".

That is a really old chipset.

There are none in this Mobo, only thing there is in BIOS is in "Advanced Settings" -> "Storage Configuration" --> "Legacy IDE Channels"
I tried Enhanced and Comptible which opens another option "Legacy IDE channels" and has few options:

1. SATA 1,2,3,4
2. IDE1, SATA2, SATA4
3. SATA1, SATA3, IDE1
4. PATA Only

Tried I think all of them - no go. If its relevant I'll try again, what config?

If you cannot find AHCI in any of the bios settings then you should scrap that motherboard.

You can also go on ebay and find an intel X25-M or X25-V drive for around $35 which you can use to test. That drive is the most "compatible" drive I know of and stands the best chance of working. Also, you should try cloning an OS installation from a HDD. Maybe that will work better. I had a machine that refused to take a new installation but would clone an old one just fine.

You can use Intel's free Data Migration software download to clone.

- I actually tried using the installation from the other pc where I tried to see if the SSD ok, and I took the SSD with the OS and put in the problem PC, no boot))

Well, I was premature, after first round of windows updates, after restart the same problem again (freeze on "starting windows"). Found some info on the net that Crucial SSD works with this mobo. I might switch to it. Although would be nice to find a solution for the current setup.

From my experience with older socket 775 boards like yours, i've had the best compatibility with Crucial and Intel SSD's.

Supposedly Enhanced and SATAII will work for AHCI.

Maybe you do need to try a Crucial SSD?

Thanks for your replies guys, I do believe that Crucial would have worked, but eventually we decided to go new: new mobo and cpu (i5) so.. I had a concern that the mobo may also be damaged in some way hence the decision.
