So as you've gathered from the title I've just installed my first SSD and it went pretty smoothly. There was one snag along the way...
After windows 7 was installed it restarted and said "4 updates have been installed, please restart your computer". (I have an ethernet cable plugged in). I restarted and then came up with something like:
"Windows has failed to logon".
I restarted again and it dissapeared and started up fine. Should I just forget about that?
On another note I'm not sure which drivers to download... My motherboard is an Asus Rampage Formula (see link)
http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=MyJtSWUgzptSqKFN&templete=2
If you click the downloads tab and Windows 64 bit it gives loads of downloads... I think in the past i've installed some of these but i'm not sure if i actually need them. For example do i need these:
1. Bios updates. I actually haven't installed these before so I'll probably stay clear.
2. LAN. "Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet Driver V11.10.5.3 for 32/64bit Windows 7.(WHQL)". I think I installed this last time but I'm online atm without it...
3.Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager Driver. I've never really known what this is...should i install it!?
I'll get the GPU driver from the manufacturers website but it's showing up as installed in device manager already with no problems! Should I still go to the manufacturer's website (EVGA)?
So far everything's smooth but I haven't installed any programs or done anything particularly intensive.
I know it doesn't mean much but this drive (OCZ Vertex 2 60gb) scores a 7.7 in windows experience index lol
Thanks everyone,
Jez
