Hello Guys,

How is it going guys? Looking for some recommendations to upgrade my
2007 MB Pro 17 inch Intel Core 2 Duo with Memory 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and Graphics ATI Radeon X1600 256 MB with Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63). I was looking into Samsung 840 SSD but thought would check with the experts in this forum. Thanks in Advance.

Samsung 830, 840 or 840 Pro will all be solid recommendations, especially considering Apple use variations of Samsung SSDs as their OEM drives.

If you can grab an 830 before they're all gone that would be the perfect fit as it's a well known mature drive, all known problems have been fixed and Apple use it themselves.

Appreciate the response. Is there a compatibility chart that I refer, to make sure SSD fits my MB Pro model as its 5 yrs old. Thanks.

Does it take normal 2.5" notebook SATA HDDs? If so, then it will work.

Intel 160GB $90 AR would be a decent choice too. Super reliable and super cheap. No need for SATA 6Gbps on such an old machine.

Thanks Guys. I looked up hardware profile and looks like i have Hitachi HTS541616J9SA00 SATA drive. Looked up online and it is Hitachi GST Travelstar 5K160 HTS541616J9SA00 (0A28844) 160GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" SATA 1.5Gb/s Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive. So I think i might go with the following - Samsung 830 Series 2.5-Inch 128 GB SATA3 Notebook Solid State Drive MLC MZ-7PC128N/AM - Hope all goes well!

The 830 will be a perfect fit but that X25-M G2 for $90 is pretty slick as well. Let us know how you get on.

Guys, i have the drive connected with USB and contents
Have been transferred over to SSD and would like to measure
Boot times from SSD. Any software or other ways to see if it is
Faster than before? Appreciate responses. Thanks.
