so my computer currently has an 120gb samsung evo 750 for OS and 1TB hdd for games and stuff which just broke..I have decided to buy an 1TB SSD to replace it.Would like to keep it around 100 euro or even lower and I would also like to stick to the samsung brand...maybe a QVO 860?Idk,leave me your thoughts.I want to use it for games keep that in mind.I am not looking for 1 second loading times since any ssd will be infinitely better than my hdd,but I want a decent one.

The 860 QVO is about your only 1 TB Samsung option in that price range.

Otherwise, drives like the Crucial MX500, WD Blue 3D, Sandisk Ultra 3D, SK Hynix S31 are all good choices.

but is the 860 QVO the best choice among those?

No, I would get something better with TLC nand such as the MX500 or WD Blue 3D. Both of these are better drives than the QLC based QVO. In general, the 860 Evo is a great drive, but the QVO is not as much. The others listed fall in between, not far behind the EVO.

Unless there are program on there that you must save, and cannot re-install, and even then, you could clone, I see no reason not to replace both the 120GB Samsung 750 and the 1TB failing HDD, with a singular 1TB (or 2TB?) M.2 NVMe SSD.

I'm not saying that you did say that, I'm saying that you SHOULD do that. Why spend the money on an NVMe SSD for your system, just to replace a HDD, rather than realize the full performance of that sort of configuration, and move / install your OS to it too.

Edit: Additionally, I personally am of the opinion that the Samsung 750 was a pretty crappy SSD, and should be replaced at your earliest possible convenience.

OP, I understand what you are asking... but you would probably realize better performance from an SSD if you loaded everything on a 1TB drive, the 120GB SSD you currently have is probably pushing 3/4 full (with a typical OS install...) and you would see marginally better performance from a bigger SSD. I understand you already have it, and it probably works well enough for you, so I got that, too... it's just a suggestion. If you are budget hunting, you could forego the NVMe drive, where you would pay a price premium, and just get a good 2.5" drive.

BTW, the WD Black SN750 500GB NVMe was $69.99 this morning on Newegg. Maybe upgrade the OS drive, then add a 4TB HDD for games?

but i m not getting a nvme.i will get something like the samsung 860 qvo.Idk i will think about it,if i m really gonna use it for my system I ll get the 860 evo at least...the point was to save money since i will probably replace my PC in a couple of years and then I will make sure everything is perfect.and about newegg, amazon, etc.I live in eastern europe and I don t think I need to say more.In my country the 860 qvo 1tb is $100 at best and it s even on sale, while the evo is around $150 also on a little sale...so yeah.Remember the point is space since any ssd is better than my old hdd and my old ssd too probably.I do not use this computer for extraordinary storage intensive tasks, the only time i ever copied or transfered files was to move my games or to put things into the recicle bin.To give you an idea,I have had my SSD for 3 maybe 4 years and samsung magician says it has only written 11TB in its life....so yeah.

I am a happy owner of a 2TB 860 QVO. It's my steam and media drive, works fine.
That's as good as a seal of approval to me.

I wish that:
1) the price of SSDs hadn't gone up, and
2) the price of Intel SSDs, hadn't gone up FASTER than other SSDs.

I bought 2x 660p 1TB M.2 NVMe SSDs for $84 ea., mine were open-box, but Newegg had various deals around back then that also had then for that price, new. You could get a 2TB 660p for around $180-200.

At those prices, they are price-competitive with a Samsung QVO SATA drive, and smaller and faster.

Today's prices, though? The QVO doesn't sounds SO bad...

Nope, I'm right there with you. The only thing I use spinners for is media storage and backup images...

On a fluke, I cloned one of my OS SSD drives to an old 500GB Hitachi drive I had... and booted into it. That was a year ago and I'm still waiting... ;)

in usa i find nvme drives lower price, i guess if there is a wall price of 100 then a substandard qvl is a choice but not for me spend the extra 10$ get the nvme install your os on it also.

Did you check your BIOS - probably under a heading like BOOT to make sure the right drive is chosen?
