SSD to choose on SATA2

Hello,

I'm looking forward to buying SSD for my notebook, however I've recently found out that my notebook supports only SATA 2.
I've been reading a lot and I formed opinion that I should still buy SSD made on SATA 3, because it will perform better than the one originally made for SATA 2.
Is this opinion right?
I've read http://www.anandtech.com/show/4202/the-intel-ssd-510-review/10 and as I understand it's best to get OCZ vertex 3 (just maybe 120GB, not 240).
Is this one good or should I be looking into OCZ vertex 2(SATA 2)?

Please help me to make a decision which one should I buy.

i would go with intel or samsung. the torqx-2 looks like a nice bang for the buck. haven't tried the torqx-2 personally, but it seems like a good buy.

Intel is my No.1 choice for laptops. An Intel 320 160GB is a great drive with a nice price and decent capacity. It also has built in encryption if security is of a concern to you.

I don't want to sound rude, but so what?

Unless you have some very special need you won't notice the difference at all. Intel drives are also extremely compatible with most OEM laptops.

By all means buy what you want, but after having owned 5 SSDs i can tell you right now that nothing beats the Intel on reliability and compatibility.

I might also add in that had this been for a desktop PC i would say go with the Vertex. But for Laptops i must admit i'm definately 100% Intel biased due to how well they have worked for me!

sandforce drives are not known for their reliability.

The Vertex is marginally faster but before you buy it, I highly recommend visiting OCZ's forums and reading what their users have to say. OCZ SSDs can have MAJOR problems working right so go read and decide if that's what you want to deal with. The intel isn't noticeably slower but it will run fine out of the box.

The new Samsung SSDs are very good and reliable. There's a reason why they are sold out:

There are simply better choices than getting a Sandforce SSD at the moment. Maybe that will change with the latest firmware fix from Sandforce, but why not just go for a more reliable SSD?

The Crucial SSDs are also reliable, but they don't reach their full potential on Sata 2. They are also a good price at the moment:

Yeah, I see that everywhere I check Samsung ssd 470 is sold out, why is that? They stopped production of these?
