Hi guys. I switched my sata driver from IDE to AHCI recently. For some reason when I boot up windows it sits at the windows 7 splash screen for about 30 seconds or so. Once I am in windows performance seems fine. League of Legends was a bit slower loading too which was odd.

I'd rather not go back to IDE for my sata controller but was curious if anyone else has seen this.

I have an i7 930 chip on an Asus P6T SE motherboard. Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated!

Making this change also requires a registry change. Microsoft makes an automated tool to do it or you can Google it and manually make the change.

Yeah I looked up online and did the reg chance so it loads the AHCI driver and then reboots.

Is Quick Boot or a similar feature in your BIOS enabled? Also, is there more than 1 drive controller enabled in your BIOS?

I figured it out there was a timeout setting in my bios to check for ata drives. I put it at 0. Boots fast now.
