Your post doesn't make sense. On one hand you are saying there is little value in the Pro drives over the EVO but then on the other that the EVO is being intentionally ignored?
That any stated differences in market tier are being ignored, intentionally, as are value-adds unlikely to be used. There are several other good drives that would be fine to buy, as well, such as the Ultra Plus, and Q (THNSNH). But, Crucial has decided to offer good drives with aggressive pricing, and the prices are the main difference.

What differences there are between the drives are minimal, and mostly warranty-related. We might get the MLC, but even then, it will be rare the person that actually gets anywhere near close to wearing it out. And, if you might, you'd have been just as well off with any number of MLC drives cheaper than the 840 Pro. Unless you really want the warranty for business reasons, or really want the software, Samsung has their drives priced according to their marketing efforts much more than their merits.

For "regular" use, I don't see a huge difference between most SSDs, and I've used everything from SanDisk Ultra Plus, to everyone's darling OCZ (Vertex 2, Agility 3, Agility 4), and Crucial (M4, M500, MX100).

I'd tend to pick Crucial right now, especially given that they go on sale so often and have a good track record of reliability.

Sure, Samsung Pros (and similar tier SSDs) score more Bungholio marks, but for regular use, I don't notice much difference.

OCZ is not my darling, it's my door stop.

Reference for Bungholiomarks, for those that don't remember them:
http://www.funnyjunk.com/funny_pictures/4757348/425+Bungholiomarks+dont+lie/

I don't want to get slammed or kicked off for language, potty-humor or whatever, but I had to chime in my own thoughts about "origins."

Mike Judge has been an animated cartoon-series creator for some time. Currently, they run "King of the Hill" on TV.

Before that, it was "Beavis and Butthead." In B&B, he made fun of Middle-Eastern types. Beavis pulls his tee-shirt over his head, speaking with a thick accent:

"I am the Great Bungholio!"
"My peeble need TP! They need TP for their Bunghole!" [acronym for toilet paper]
"Heh-heh. Heh-heh . . "

"Ah -- chicks -- ah-hah . . huhh-ahh."
"Yeah! Boi-oi-oi-oi-oing!! Heh-heh. Heh-heh. Chicks! Boi-oi-oi-oing!"

I taught that last line to my sister-in-law's parrot while I was baby-sitting animals during their vacation . . .
