SSD's (Sandforce) are now using on-board compression. Over time that's likely to become standard (competition, write amplification etc). Different SSD controllers will have different compression handling but they will all use compression over time, if only to compete with Sandforce.

Most SSD uses (system drives etc) don't use much compressed data but some uses do (media storage, encrypted user files, etc).

As SSD's become more common and larger capacity, compressed data will become more common for SSDs and storage of compressed data on SSDs will increase.

Could reviews and comparison shoot-outs of SSDs include stats for compressed as well as "normal" data, or make it clear which tests reflect performance with compressed data?
