I want to replace my pc's boot drive with a SSD but i don't want to lose anything as i have a lot of important stuff ? want should i do ? the current dive is 160GBs with 50GBs left so want to get a 128GB SSD ?

Im not understanding what the question is ?

What you should do with important data ? put it on external drive and turn it off

You can use windows system image....... and make a image on a external drive. Use Windows Image Backup , put the image on a external. and make repair disc and boot off of it,,,, make sure at this ponit only ssd is conn..... then you put the image dvd boot off it and restore your whole HD. gl

1. Backup to an external USB drive
2. Backup to optical media
3. Backup to a cloud storage service
4. Make a clone of the drive and put away for safe keeping

I'd just go ahead and bump up to a 256GB SSD instead of a 128, unless your fundage is insufficient to cover the extra cost.

SATA2 is fine. You couldnt tell if it was SATA2 or SATA6 without a benchmark program.

Any clone SW will do. Acronis for example. I prefer reinstalls tho.

Having 110GB data and buying a 128GB SSD sounds really silly.

Is this for the system in your signature, with 160GB and 500GB? Can you move files to your data drive? Blain and ShintaiDK are pointing out that SSDs slow down as they get near full capacity.

Crucial M4 $115
I upgraded from a Hitachi 160GB to a Crucial M4 128GB on SATA-II. It works fine. It seems to have better performance, but I also upgraded my OS.
