Good morning!
I successfully installed a SSD in a Dell Precision T3400 and loaded Win 7 on it. After shut-off the bios won't "remember" the boot drive. I've had to go into Set Up and move it back into place on the Boot Sequence to get it running. Replaced the battery; still the same issue. The computer is a 2009 build. A co- worker has suggested that the bios isn't compatible with SSD's. Is that a possibility?

An SSD appears the same as any other drive in the BIOS, so the fact that it is an SSD should not matter. Are you remembering to select save and exit when you leave the BIOS?

You could also try physically swapping the SSD to the SATA port on the motherboard that is used by the HDD.

Thanks for the reply. I'm saving and exiting set-up properly.

Even moved the SATA cables around so that the RAID 1 drive is on Ports 4&5 and the SSD is on Port 0 over the weekend, still no luck.

As soon as you power off the computer the (e) drive RAID 1 Ports 4&5 jumps to Bios Sequence 1 position and the (c) drive SSD at Port 0 disappears from the boot sequence. It's still is listed as the Port 0 Drive, but you have to rearrange the Boot Sequence, save and escape, the verify drive at CTRL I to get Win 7 to open.

I'm sthumpt

Oooh, so you have a hardware RAID controller in the mix. Which BIOS are you going into, the RAID controller's or the system's?
