SSD Port 1 not detecting

Hi, I just recently bought a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD to upgrade from my OCZ Vertex 3 120GB and simply cannot get the Samsung SSD to be detected in my BIOS.

I had a similar problem with OCZ when I first purchased it almost 2 years ago and it ended up failing within 2 months, then another failed 1 month afterwards. The Samsung SSD is detected if I use an ODD tray and place it in Port 2, but Port 1 simply doesn't read it. I have always used Port 1 for my OCZ.

Due to the Samsung SSD not detecting I was unable to do a fresh install of Win 7 and instead cloned the drive using an external USB 3 case I have, but it did take a bit of effort for the drive to be detected via USB in the first place.

I have checked to make sure AHCI mode is activated, the SSD firmware is up to date and clearing CMOS didn't help either.

My computers specs are:
Clevo P150HM
Windows 7 Professional 64bit
Intel i7 2720QM Processor
Intel HM65 Chipset
RAM: 12GB

If anyone has some ideas or has had issues like this before and can help, it would be greatly appreciated

two ssd fail on port 1. first make sure the plug is clean.and did you try another connector.(wire)

So a drive connected to port 2 through the tray won't be detected in the BIOS?

Can you test the Samsung in another machine? At least then you (we) would know which part we are looking at.

The 2 OCZ drives ended up being dead, Port 1 has since run an OCZ for about a year and a bit since, I've just outgrown the 120GB and needed more room. This is a laptop so I can't crack it open to do change wires, just different slots.

The Samsung SSD that I'm trying to use ONLY works on Port 2. I have been using Port 1 for an OCZ SSD for over a year, but now Port 1 isn't detecting the Samsung at all. I'm afraid I don't have another laptop (or desktop) to test it on

Clear CMOS, if you can get to the battery. If not, pull main battery unplug power and hold power on button for about 30 seconds. See if that works.
