Edit::: after some research i guess this is standard bench for the drive.. feel so cheated.. guess will get 840 pro for 80$? or looking at 840 evo 500gb also.. OUCH pny xlr8 pro has almost decent benches for most the tests.. but slower by far than 840 pro ;(

Pretty sure had intel 330 160gb 90% full.. vs new pny xlr8 240gb 67% full (same data) intel beats it? im confused.. sata plugs next to each other.. pny is slave. intel is running the OS..

So played with all the diff sata plugs on my pc.

PNY XLR8 240gb

SataII
Sequential Read : 264.892 MB/s
Sequential Write : 196.307 MB/s

SataIII asmedia
Sequential Read : 363.488 MB/s
Sequential Write : 145.114 MB/s

PNY XLR8 240gb on SataIII z77

Sequential Read : 463.592 MB/s
Sequential Write : 153.964 MB/s
Random Read 512KB : 438.216 MB/s
Random Write 512KB : 160.233 MB/s
Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 25.918 MB/s [ 6327.7 IOPS]
Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 65.612 MB/s [ 16018.6 IOPS]
Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 96.462 MB/s [ 23550.2 IOPS]
Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 117.935 MB/s [ 28792.7 IOPS]

Intel 330 180gb ** IN USE and 90% full...

sataII
Sequential Read : 441.444 MB/s
Sequential Write : 155.506 MB/s

sataIII asmedia
Sequential Read : 363.969 MB/s
Sequential Write : 152.483 MB/s

sataIII z77 intel

Sequential Read : 461.813 MB/s
Sequential Write : 151.382 MB/s
Random Read 512KB : 406.249 MB/s
Random Write 512KB : 156.374 MB/s
Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 32.017 MB/s [ 7816.6 IOPS]
Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 69.691 MB/s [ 17014.5 IOPS]
Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 308.213 MB/s [ 75247.4 IOPS]
Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 107.433 MB/s [ 26228.7 IOPS]

Test : 50 MB [C: 88.8% (148.8/167.6 GB)] (x5)

So INtel beating it and being full and in use.. not upgrade at all. now will have to figure out how to easily format the data off..

Looks like it's running SATA II instead of SATA III speed.

Looks fine. I'd move on. It probably just needs time or more data so that it can TRIM itself.

You would move on and be ok with this? just tried the other z77 sataIII ports. lil faster but confused ;( wish was way better performance. 840 pro or evo and return the pny is what looks like best option as of now.

An 840 Evo should lose to it on 4K write, but beat it on larger sizes and all reads. I'd consider an 840 Evo a flat out better SSD, personally. I try to stick to memory makers in general, with Plextor as an exception to that rule, at this point.
