SSD on Thunderbolt Vs Internal bus

Hi, I am running OSX 10.8 on a Vertex4 SSD (seagate external dock) connected via Thunderbolt to my iMac. It seems pretty fast but my question is, would I get even better performance (faster random reads) if I opened my iMac and put the SSD inside? I already have the Apple SATA2 SSD inside my iMac and am considering swapping that drive out with the Vertex4, if it improves performance over having it on the Thunderbolt. Many Thanks!

Yes it should from what I've seen so far. The internal bays 6G based chipset/hub should give you better overall performance, especially in small I/O and R/W latency.
