SSD not found by Windows 7

I just installed my first SSD. Windows 7 does not see it. I bought the board in NOVEMBER 2009. Should i worry about the BIOS' or the drivers being out of date. If they are, how do I find out? If that is not the likely problem, where should I look?

Thanks for your help

If your BIOS shows it on POST, then I would think you would see it in Disk Management. If you don't see it in Disk Management, then try it on another PC.

make sure to try swapping cables (power and SATA) with something known good. Also make sure the SATA port is not disabled in the BIOS (might not apply, just thinking of a stupid Dell I had to wrestle with at work).

Drivers would not apply here. I agree to check disk manager, just to see if it is there but not being assigned a drive letter.
