I'm thinking of buying a samsung SSD and I was considering an external model since that way I can boot from that drive using different computers (having 3 this is very convenient) BUT I'm worried about speed

Is there any difference in read/write speed between the T1 and the internal EVO? has anyone here used both as boot drives?

Thanks

USB3 is much slower than SATA. Don't let the max read speeds listed confuse you. USB has far more overhead and increases latency. It'll load far slower.

And what OS do you intend to boot that can go from computer to computer?? Linux?

Well bummer, I have a debian distro which I use mostly for development so no problem there, but if the latency is as bad as you say then pass

Too bad my laptop doesn't have eSata..........or that one its also slower than Sata3?
