SSD in Dedicated Game Server Box

Hi guys,

Just wanted to get your thoughts. I have two computers that I run very oldschool game servers on. (Quake 1, 2, Descent, Shogo, etc) One is a c2d e6700 rig that runs on Windows XP. The other is a c2q q8400 that runs Windows 7.

Basically my question is, would an SSD benefit these machines at all, beyond just simple load times and what not? I reckon the servers do get the 'windows slowness' after a while and I figured they might end up benefiting from the upgrade.

Thoughts?

I use an SSD in my media server machine, and older Intel SATAII model.

I used to have a (hybrid) hard drive in it for the OS, but with all my other systems running SSDs I found it unbearable to work on the machine (updates, maintenance, software changes, whatever).

With the low price of small SSDs today (especially if you can find a good deal on a used one), there's not much reason not to use one as a boot drive in a server.
