SSD Enroute... copying OS image to it?

I'm currently running win7x64Ult. on a WB C.Black 1TB consisting of the 'system reserved' partition [100 MB] , (C🙂 [117.18 GB], and 'TV Storage (H🙂 [814.23 GB]. For some reason, I don't remember this disk (WD1001FALS-00J7B1) being 4k-aligned, the SSD (Vertex 2 180GB) definitely will be. How can I resolve this (if any) issue and image my current os partitions, put them in place on the ssd, and still reap the benefits of the SSD?

First thing to try is to just clone for current drive, and then check the alignment with AS-SSD. If it needs adjustment, then you can try to manually align it with gparted

The new SSD will not be "4k-aligned" - but it will have a 4Kb NAND page (or block) size. You want to adjust the partition offset so that the 4kb pages (blocks) align with 4kb default cluster size that windows uses. If the cluster crosses a block boundary, then the block before or after the intended block will have to be read whenever a change is made, and the whole prcoess is a little less efficient.
