SSD doesn't show up after secure erase

Hello I bought an used OEM 256GB Samsung 840 pro SSD(mz-7pd2560/0h7), I think the drive I bought is from a HP product. Before secure erasing I used a PSID revert tool. I erased the SSD with parted magic and everything went fine, well I'm a bit oblivious on what happens next, the SSD isn't showing up anymore in parted magic or windows, and if I'm not mistaken it shows up as 'UEFI disk' in the bios. Do I install Samsung SSD firmware or is there another step?

In administrative tools go to computer management then go to disk management and mount the drive or you will never see it in windows. Once it has been allocated, formated and given a drive letter you will be able to use it.

Initialization.

I tried that and it wasn't showing up in disk management also, I tried hot switching but no luck. I then tried it with a USB adapter and it showed up, I had to initialize it and convert it to GPT but it gives me an error stating that the drive is too small for a GPT partition.

What software did you use to erase the drive? DBAN can't be used on it. You have to use something like parted magic.

I did a secure erase with Parted Magic, everything went fine, but Parted Magic doesn't recognize the drive anymore.

I would download and use the Samsung magician software on the drive.

It's an OEM drive, Samsung magician didn't see the drive before the formatting, but now it doesn't see the drive at all.

Did you accidentally change the password section when you were using secure erase? Because that will lock you out in a hurry if you touched it and you weren't meaning to. http://partedmagic.com/secure-erase/

" The fourth column displays the temporary security password. This does not do what you may think. It is best to leave it “password” unless you know what you are doing. Do not ever change it to “NULL” or empty."

Time to contact Samsung customer support and explain to them that you cannot see the drive in bios and see what they say.

When plugged into a SATA port, have you looked in the BIOS to see if the drive shows up there?

I don't remember doing anything like that, I did however turn of the power when the process was completed instead of shutting the PC down in the OS.

If it is showing up with a USB adapter then create a new partition table, use MBR/dos. You can do this with parted magic. Then please check, what size the drive is showing and if you can create a NTFS filesystem.

What OS are you using? Depending on this, and your computer (it has UEFI right?), GPT would also work.

I am very eager to see some kind of news about your situation. As it happens, i am in the same boat. I have a Sony VAIO with a pain-in-the-ass mSATA PCIe SSD chip instead of drive. No way i could connect it to anything to wipe it in-os. So, as the OP i used the Parted Magic free 2013 edition and did the secure erase. After the process was completed i tried to make partition table on the fresh drive but it gave me an error. I rebooted and back in Parted Magic. Now however my SSD does not show up at all, only the USB the Parted Magic runs from. Please help! How can i get my SSD back?

UPDATE: In bios it used to show the brand of the ssd and its details. Now it just says "Hard Disk Drive 128gb". Still doesnt show up in Parted Magic. Making a windows install USB, will see if i can format it or activate it in the setup. Slim chance but still...

So looks like OP got his shit fixed and wont be coming back soon... :( And i cant PM him either because apparently i need 25 posts to do that? What the hell AnandTech....

Well, looks like i need to buy a new SSD. Nothing i have tried works.

I cant do diskpart in windows installation CMD prompt. It just freezes.
I can see 119gb of unallocated space when i try to install windows, but once i try to create a partition in this unallocated space it gives me an error that it was unable to do so. Yay. :|
