Question SSD - Does Overprovisioning need proprietary software?

I am building a few machines with Win10 and Samsung 860 Evo SSDs (256Gb) for an enterprise environment. I would like to extend their life with overprovisioning.

Do I need to install the Samsung Magician software on windows, or would it be enough to leave around 20Gb of unpartioned space on the drive?
 
No need for the software. You can create the same effect leaving unpartitioned space, as you mention or, if the drive is partitioned fully, by using volume shrink in Windows 10 Disk Management.
