SSD Caching on a backup drive

I am getting another SSD and I want to take my 40gb Intel X-25v and move it to my WD 500gb for SSD caching. It will not be a boot drive but will be my programs and files folder for my games and such. My Z68 mobo will do such but I just wanted to ask and see if anyone else has done this recently.

I have an X25-V and I am getting a Kingston V100 64gb. I have been reading a lot of reviews about the performance issues with the V100. Should I still use my X25-V as my boot drive?

my wife's computer has an x25-e 64GB as a cache to her 2TB storage drive with all her games. after a couple runs it was like night and die. she has a 240GB as her OS though.

When I am setting up my HDDs in the Bios, do I select RAID mode instead of AHCI? Then configure it on RST in windows. Or can I just override it in windows and leave AHCI in Bios?

Download latest SRT driver/uitlity from your mobo web site.
At bios go to AHCI and turn on RAID.
Go to windows (assuming wins 7) run SRT utility then it's pretty much intuitive from there.
Download HD tune or CrystalMark for benchies if so desired.
In my case, I use SSD for caching my 2nd HDD for game speed load time.

Try both . Maximized is a tad faster for me but I chose to stay with enhanced to be safe. BTW, caching takes a while to up the speed.

I started caching my harddrive and for some reason I cannot get the extra 18gb of space to show up as a drive letter. It seems that it just wants to cache the whole drive. Anyways, I am returning the WD 500gb because it gets this high pitched whine that is so loud it sounds like screeching nails on a chalkboard. I just ordered a Samsung F3
