SSD Caching drives - Do they cache just the boot drive/partition or all drives?

Quick question for anyone who either has an SSD caching drive setup or is familiar with how they work...

Do the caching drives using either the Dataplex (or other) software or the Intel RST software cache just the system drive/partition read and writes or do they try to cover reads/writes for all the drives / partitions in a system, or better still allow you to choose?

I have searched the web and the forums but there isn't really any forthcoming answer regarding this.

They can cache only 1 "volume", and this volume does NOT have to be the OS drive. This is my reading of it from much study.

BUT.... if you hang on until Saturday I will tell you for sure, as I have a 3rd SSD in the post and am going to try to use it to cache my mechanical drive with my games on it (which will require a reinstall). People will post it is impossible because of some statement by an ASUS rep, but it seems the rep was wrong and this just got propagated on the interweb

I suspected more or less that may be the outcome.... but look forward to seeing if you can pull off an alternate configuration.

Well, in that case I'm surprised more hybrid HDDs haven't appeared as that would address that minor annoyance. Tempted by a Momentus XT but I can't help think a 3.5" one would allow for more capacity (both magnetic and flash) at a lower cost than a 2.5" drive.... plus seeing as a normal PC case can house a 3.5" drive quite easily....
