SSD better in Intel than AMD?

I've been hearing that its easier & better to use and setup a SSD in an Intel MB rather than an AMD. If this is indeed true, any recommendations for a $100 or so MB?

Depends.

Generally I would say the ICH10R is the superior controller to AMD's. However AMD's newest southbridge has support for SATA III.

If you search the interwebs most people seem to agree.

AHCI support is documented to have much better driver support and performance on Intel chipsets than compared to AMD chipsets.

However having things like hot swapping SATA drives is arguably not as important as things like NCQ which do not necessarily rely on AHCI.

TRIM support, for instance, works at the OS level and doesn't need AHCI or SATA mode to work.
