Question SSD and RAM Compatibility

Hey, I’ve been looking for quite a while and I haven’t gotten to any conclusion. I have an Asus P8Z77-V LX Motherboard and I would like to install an SSD, for what I know, as long as the MB has a SATA 2 or SATA 3 port, any SSD with those specs should fit, I may be wrong. I wanted to buy 1 ADATA Ultimate Su800 512gb SATA III 2.5” 7mm, but when I asked the vendor of the SSD he told me it wasn’t compatible with my MB, since then I’ve been confused on why is this, there might be something else that I’m not seeing.

Also, I have a RAM Memory HyperX 8GB@823MHz. If I install another HyperX 8GB@2400MHz. Would it work?

SATA SSD will typically just run slower on a SATA 2 port vs a SATA 3 port. I have trouble believing it would not work.
On a SATA 2 port, it will still be way faster than a HDD.

I suspect your ram is actually 1600Mhz and if you put a 2400Mhz stick with it, the 2400Mhz stick will typically match speeds with the slower ram stick.

Generally, ram sticks run to the lowest speed stick.

Example: If you have three 2400 sticks and one 2133 stick, typically all four will run at 2133.

Occasionally you can manually get the 2133 stick to run at 2400, and have all four at 2400.

Once in a while, you will get some sticks that just won't cooperate with each other and you can't get different sticks to work together.

This is why they sell them in sets.

Your motherboard has a couple of SATA3 ports so make sure to use those for maximum SSD performance. I don't see any reason why an SSD would be incompatible with your motherboard, just make sure it's a normal 2.5" drive.
