SSD and Defrag.

Do I need to defragment my Intel® Mainstream Solid-State Drives (using Windows* Disk Defragmenter* or similar program)?
No. SSD devices, unlike traditional HDDs, see no performance benefit from traditional HDD defragmentation tools. Using these tools simply adds unnecessary wear to the SSD. It is recommended that you disable any automatic or scheduled defragmentation utilities for your Intel SSD.

As indicated above, defragging does nothing for SSD performance and will use up flash write cycles (which are finite).

Additionally, if you are defragging and writing to previously unwritten blocks, and freeing up other previously written blocks, you are placing additional demands on your garbage collection or TRIM functions while also potentially contributing to the slowing of drive performance.

defragging a regular harddrive is a worthless placebo that you shouldn't bother with.
defragging an SSD HARMS them.
