SSD 2010 Macbook Pro 2010

Going to replace the apple HD in 2010 Macbook Pro. Any recommendations? Currently has it's 500GB HD it came with. Thinking of replacing with 500GB MX100 since they are so cheap but are highly recommended.

As far as I know I just need to
1) buy SSD + format
2) buy a SATA-USB cable to move the HD items to SSD
3) unscrew the laptop and replace HD with SSD.
4) enjoy increased performance

As far as I am ignorant
1) SuperDuper is good enough? or is another program better?
2) Do I need to install another program for whatever Trim is?

All in all, process seems pretty simple, though I am not as familiar with laptops/macs replacing parts as I am in a Windows desktop.

Let me know if I missed something, you recommend something different, or if you personally prefer particular SSD in mac laptops.

I have used sandisk ssd's for a while now and they seem to work well. Many will probably recommend samsung ssd's.

Seems like I can do this without superduper and just use time machine? Let me know if this is correct below:

1) Use time machine and put everything on external HDD
2) connect new SSD with SATA-USB and format
3) use time machine to put everyone on SSD
4) disconnect/power off
5) open up laptop, remove old HDD and replace with new SSD
6) start computer and enjoy

I also am thinking about these two:
http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX100-...ds=mx100+512gb
and
http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-S...ds=sata+to+usb

unless for the connector you can find cheaper lol

Don't see anything wrong with what you wrote.

If you want a clean install you can hook up the SSD, install OSX (download it through the App Store, it's free), migrate your data/docs/whatever over, and then replace the HDD with the SSD.

If you don't need to use your DVD drive you can also replace it with your HDD for two storage drives total. Just need a mounting kit from ebay or OWC or something.

<- mid-2009 MBP, ran a 250GB 840 Evo before and now have a 512GB MX100 inside
