I was interested in doing a 2 on 2 over the web with some friends. Is this possible?

You need their friend code and they need yours. Then start a game with friends. Have the other people join your game. Then the second player on each wii presses start to join in.

I don't see why two people can't do coop from the same console. Retarded Nintendo...

They can.

Only with friend codes.

With the "play anyone" option, it seems you have to play by yourself, and all you get are 2 minute 4 player ffas. (or 2v2s)

That really sucks. Me and a friend really wanted to hop online and compete. Nintendo + Online = the most retarded way to set up things possible.

Oh yeah, their setup is basically equal to exchanging ip addresses of PCs circa 1996.
