Squirrelmail 1.4 anyone?

no no ... there's a file called "global.abook" where you can list email addresses.
it worked in SM 1.2, but i moved to 1.4 and now it doesnt look like the global list is available.

I understand. If it was taken away because they went to ldap or something. Someone will write a plugin to get it back. In fact there appears to be one already (maybe?). But I can't check it out because the site is so SLOOOOWWWWWW right now.

I don't think it does support GAB. My ISP uses it for web mail - I use it when I travel and it is pretty austere. I had to create my own essential travel address book in SM.

If you aren't totally hung up on using Squirrelmail, I'd recommend you check out horde (http://www.horde.org). It takes a bit of configuration, but it is well worth it as it is much more than a simple webmail client, and has an address book management system called Turba that plugs neatly into the mail system (Imp).
