I love my wood stove but opening the door to throw wood in is annoying because the hinges squeak so loudly.

Seems like oils would smell and or smoke when they got hot.
Have you found a good solution for this?

Can you take the door off? If so, maybe some brass bushings would stop the squeaking?

yes, I believe so its much like a door hinge where you just drop a pin into the holes and tap it down.

brass bushings , not sure where I would find those or how they would take the heat?

WD-40? I don't know if it's safe to burn... but it seems to work for everything else.

I thought the whole hinge was loose and had some play. If they are tight, bushings won't work. BTW they would not have to be brass but made of any light metal that can be shaped easily.

ok found something locally that will work.
Automotive antiseize
Resists temps up to 1600 degrees F and graphite based.
Only a couple of bucks and no shipping charges:)

Bushings would work. You will probably have to take out the pin and bring it to various hardware stores to find one that will fit properly.

Graphite or white lead (if you can find it) They are sold in small tubes with hypodermic type applicators for getting into small places ie. keyslots on doorlocks, and are strictly powder.
