squeaking hard drive

is there a method of adding lubrication to the mechanical parts of the hard drive or something?

i don't have a warranty for this 200gb hard drive, so i'd like to keep using it.

the only way to fix it is to RMA it.

no RMA no fix.

But you could always put the HD in a NAS box & put it in a separate room. 🙂

actually can i RMA a hard drive my friend gave to me for free?
if i see it's a western digital and contact them about a defective HD, would it work?

Yes you can RMA it if it's still under warranty. 🙂

this hd came off of like a friend of a friend of a friend's gateway pc..
looks like i'm out of luck.. 🙁
