SQ2500 SPDIF and DTT2500 Speakers

Hey, do any of you know how to get the afofementioned setup working? I've also got a Hollywood+ DVD Decoder. The decoder has the line out going into the sound card already.

I have the receiver plugged into the Vortex2's SPDIF port, and yet nothing is happening (I just hear a bunch of snap, crackles, and pops...). The speakers are plugged in fine to the receiver as the test works great. So, how do I properly setup the SPDIF connector to work with these speakers??? I'm running WinME and Win2K, but I doubt that's gonna matter.
