SQ2500 running on win2k

I have a Aureal SQ2500 with the vortex2 and I'm trying to get it to run *perfect on my machine running win2k (there is no 4 speaker output). I went to vortexofsound.com to get the drivers but they had to different drivers on their page: a WDM driver and a A3D driver. I have no idea what these are. Can someone please enlighten me on what they are for and what advantages i will gain from downloading them? Thanks!
