Spyware question.

Prior to a recent new install of Win XP Pro I rarely had any spyware on my system. I ran Adaware once in a while and it turned up nothing. Since this new install Adaware and Spybot turn up 10-15 instances of Spyware daily! Btw I am connected to the internet via cable modem / Dlink router.
Any suggestions? Should I wipe out all of my cookies? Set my securtiy settings higher? Before I start to mess with it I thought I'd ask for opinons?
Thx
Gary

Are the only spyware they find cookies? You can turn up security to not allow cookies but then you will find that many sites won't work. I think you are better off just running the spyware programs every once in a while. If you are getting more than cookies, you may need to set up a firewall if you have not already done so.

i have not gotten ANY spyware since installing and running this. you just select all the spwyare, hit protect, then exit out and you are immune, btw not sure if it works with anything other than IE
