Screenshot of popups

Well I accidently posted this in the software section, didnt realize there was a technical support  So this is just a copy and paste.

I keep getting these popups. They always come together, never seperatly. I have searched for what is causing them but havent found anything. They stopped for awhile but came back, even faster than before. I have tried adaware, spoybot, acronis privacy suite, and various other spyware removal tools and they find nothing. Has anyone seen these before?

I've done most of that and used most of those programs to search for problems. Nothing finds it. I am using firefox. gonna try a few more things, but if no one knows specifically what is causing this i will probably just have to reinstall windows.

Arrrgggg....you have some nasty malware. That Starware screenie is VERY VERY scary: "Open the file. Our software contains no viruses." That's because it IS A VIRUS! Probably WORSE than a virus!

You're in for a LONG and heated battle. To be honest, I'd back up your data to CDROM/DVD and format/reinstall Windows. In most cases, that's much faster than taking malware to task, especially for a non-expert in malware removal.

If you insist on taking it on, here's some good places to get started:

Are you familiar/comfortable with Hijack This? If so, run the scan and then copy/paste your log into the space provided on THIS site. Keep "visitor ratings" checked .... You can safely "fix" those things that are determined to be "nasty."

Give it a shot ... it may find something those other scans didn't.

I'll probably just reinstall, too much work for classes to fight with this that long. Thanks for the Hijackthis page, I didnt know that existed, thought you had to post in thier forums and wait for an answer. Anything thats not listed as safe I know what it is. Just stumping me that nothing can find this thing.

If you're talking about SWI or any of the sites that Tom Coyote is affiliated with, you would get more specialized help. You are also (usually) helped by people who are very up to date on how to identify and remove the newest bug running around. Sometimes, its worth jumping through those hoops if you don't want to "drop the bomb" and start over.

However, the site I referenced you to would be fine for a do it yourself quick scan that will certainly identify all malware other than the most current. You can do that in less than 5 minutes. It worth considering one more 5 minute attempt before you spend the hour or more required to reinstall XP and all your favorite programs.
