For some reason my browser opens up and tries to open a website:
http://www2.diymov.com/index2.php

I've ran a complete scan using Norton Antivirus and Superantispyware and neither have caught anything. It's really aggravating because I don't know what's causing this thing to pop up all the time.

If anyone can help me with this I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

1. Assuming you're using IE, click Tools - Internet Options, set your homepage, and click Apply.

Download free versions of AdAware and Spybot. Update them, disconnect from the web, and run them in Safe Mode.

If you're able to get rid of them, Spybot has an option you can use to lock your homepage so malicious software can't change it.

Hope that helps. :)

Also consider trying System Restore to "go back in time" to before the infection. Any ideas how the infection occurred?

Go to VirusTotal.com and upload C:\WINDOWS\temp\lsass.exe to the scanner, then paste the output in here? And keep on with the other suggested steps.

What's interesting here is that Symantec/Norton does detect it at VirusTotal, but not on your system.

1) Try updating your virus definitions using the RapidRelease updater.

2) Now go into the settings/configuration menus for the antivirus, and max out any options such as heuristics.

3) Run another full scan

If that doesn't work, you might want to uninstall your existing antivirus software for now and use a 30-day trial of Kaspersky AntiVirus 7 to get cleaned up with, since it appears they have specific detection for your infection.

If you decide to give Kaspersky a try:

1) go into its Settings panel by right-clicking the tray icon

2) go down the tree of settings sub-panels from top to bottom and max out detection in each one. Also hit the Customize buttons to bring up another panel, hit Advanced on each one, and enable the heuristics, setting them to Detail for maximum detection.

3) in the Threats and Exclusions panel, make sure to enable detection of Riskware

Now run a full Scan My Computer and a Rootkit Scan with that setup. It may find more stuff than you're expecting.

If he would have ran the F-Secure and NOD32 online scans mentioned in my OP it would have picked out the infection without having to uninstall his current AV. Granted Kaspersky is a more robust soultion....:p
